A rural New London man was one of two suspects arrested recently in connection with an assault at the Findley state park.
Thomas J. Denes Jr., 34, of 47990 Stewart Road, is charged with felonious assault through Oberlin Municipal Court. If convicted, he faces two to eight years in prison.
The other suspect, Todd P. Denes, 31, of Wellington, faces one count each of felonious assault and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
The men turned themselves into the North Ridgeville post of the state Highway Patrol and were arrested Friday. They were arraigned Monday and had their bonds set at $5,000 each.
At 5:46 p.m. Jan. 15, troopers said they were dispatched to the reported assault of a 44-year-old Sullivan man at the Findley state park near Wellington in Lorain County.
The responding trooper met with the victim at his home and obtained a statement. Through investigation, two suspects were developed, troopers said.
The victim reportedly was attacked by the two suspects on state park grounds. One man used the victim's vehicle without permission and damaged state property with the man's vehicle, troopers said.
