A domestic violence suspect who is accused of fleeing the scene of the suspected crime in the fall was brought to the local jail Tuesday.

Kiley E. Kershner, 28, of Mansfield, must post a $5,000 bond before being released from the Huron County Jail.

Kershner is accused of fleeing the scene of a Sept. 30 domestic violence complaint on Newton Street, police said. The Norwalk Police Department wasn’t able to locate the male suspect at the time of the report.

A 34-year-old woman reported “another household member had choked and slapped her during an argument” and fled the scene “when she called for help,” according to the police report. Officers then forwarded a report to the Norwalk Law Director’s Office for the consideration of charges.

Prosecutors filed a first-degree misdemeanor charge of domestic violence in Norwalk Municipal Court on Oct. 1.

Two Norwalk police officers were dispatched to the Allen County Jail on Tuesday to arrest Kershner on the warrant. According to jail records, the suspect was booked Dec. 31 on a probation violation filed through Allen County Common Pleas Court.
