Mom charged with stealing benefit payments from disabled son

TNS Regional News • Jan 7, 2014 at 3:07 PM

Summit County sheriff’s deputies say an Akron woman stole benefits that belonged to her developmentally disabled son.

Lynda Plum, 46, is charged with using $1,200 of her son’s Social Security payments for personal gain rather than his needs.

A residential provider reported her concerns Nov. 30. A sheriff’s detective assigned to the Summit County Board of Developmental Disabilities investigated the alleged theft and said he determined that $1,200 was misused over a two-month period.

Plum was charged with theft from the disabled and booked into the Summit County Jail.
