A local man has been convicted of a felony.

Jason A. Maye, 29, of 818 Main St., Willard, pleaded guilty to burglary.

The defendant, who remains in jail on a $20,000 bond, will be sentenced Feb. 5.

Maye broke into a White Tail Way home Aug. 11, stole a laptop computer and via an ATM, also stole $480. When he was arrested in connection with a Walmart incident later, Maye cooperated with authorities and told them the break-in was drug-related, Leffler said at Monday's plea hearing.

Conway, citing the defendant's criminal record, told Maye "it's substantially likely the court may disagree" with Leffler's recommendation to have him spend four to six months in a community-based corrections facility. A CBCF is a form of prison which focuses on substance abuse treatment and education.
