A man accused of bringing drugs into the Huron County Jail was arraigned Monday in Huron County Common Pleas Court.

Dustin S. Howell, 27, of 3764 E. U.S. 224, Lot 11, Greenwich, is charged with illegal conveyance of drugs in a detention facility, which is punishable by nine months to three years in prison. The third-degree felony is in connection with a Feb. 11 incident.

Howell on Monday entered a "not guilty" plea to his respective charge. He was indicted last week by a grand jury.

His trial is set for July 9.

Howell is serving a six-month sentence for an undisclosed misdemeanor and won't be released until August, Huron County Public Defender David Longo said. The defendant's bond on the illegal conveyance case is $10,000.
