Fandy.com Magazine, the popular Sandusky Register/Norwalk Reflector weekly high school sports publication, is going all digital for the winter sports season.
Beginning today, Fandy will be delivered to email in-boxes throughout the five-county coverage area. Registration is free. Go to fandy.com to sign-up. All you need is a valid email address.
"We are excited about the opportunity to expand our reach beyond print to electronic devices like tablets and smart phones," Mike Greco, Reflector sports editor and Fandy content manager said. "People expect to be able to access their news when and where they want it, as soon as it's available and that's where the new Fandy magazine will shine."
Greco noted that fans of Fandy can expect to find more depth in the new electronic version as Fandy's top-notch writers are liberated from paper-centric space restrictions.
"They'll have as much space as they need to give readers the full story."
In addition to receiving the most up-to-date local high school sports news each week, people who subscribe to Fandy will have their names entered in regular drawings for prizes. Those who register by Wednesday will have an opportunity to win two pairs of tickets being given away to the Dec. 8 Cleveland Cavaliers-Detroit Pistons game in Cleveland.
While people look to the Register and Reflector for daily results and state and national sports news, Fandy magazine focuses on in-depth features about important, timely matchups and the personalities involved. That won't change. Meanwhile, many of the stories and features in the electronic Fandy magazine will link back to the fandy.com website for richer content, including photo galleries, video, live and archived webcasts, the Fandy Roundtable talk show hosted by Kyle Knight, and interactive features like the popular "Player of the Week" texting poll.
"We have worked hard to differentiate the content in the Fandy magazine from both the website and the daily newspapers," Greco said. "High school sports fanatics won't want to miss a single issue. Getting your weekly high school sports fix has never been easier and is now literally only a click away."
The Fandy Roundtable webcast is being hosted by Hot Dog Tony's in downtown Sandusky and airs live at 7:30 every Monday night on fandy.com. Upcoming scheduled guests include: Dec. 10, Steve Gray and Norwalk basketball; and Dec. 17, Steve Keller and Margaretta basketball.
