Investigation involving Wilberforce trustees concluded

Attorney General Mike DeWine said that his office's Charitable Law Section has completed an investigation after a group called the Concerned Citizens of Greene County made complaints against Wilberforce University.

The CCGC alleged that the University's Board of Trustees violated their fiduciary duties.

"After a year-long investigation related to the complaints against Wilberforce trustees, our Charitable Law Section found no violations of fiduciary duties or applicable charitable trust laws," DeWine said. "The investigation is now concluded."

Since Wilberforce University is a charitable trust, the complaint was directed to the Charitable Law Section of the Ohio Attorney General's Office. After a review of documents related to the charges, no clear and convincing evidence was provided that the board failed to act in good faith or that the board acted in a manner opposed to the best interests of the University.
