Volunteers lend a hand to support food bank

Joe Centers • Feb 25, 2012 at 3:00 PM

About 30 volunteers showed up this week to help unload a truck of food from Second Harvest in Lorain. The food will be distributed to local residents by the Norwalk Area Food Bank.

The food comes from Second Harvest Food Bank two Thursdays a month. Volunteers form a food chain -- just like a bucket brigade -- to unload, move and store the food in a storage room, refrigerator or freezer. What used to take four or five people hours to do can now be done in less than 30 minutes.
