Jake’s Autocare Inc. owner Howard Wilde has been named the winner in the 2012 NAPA/ASE Technician of the year national competition.
This award, given annually since 1982 by the National Automotive Parts Association, symbolizes dedication and commitment to the industry and the community, professionalism, business practices and superior technical skill.
There are currently 14,109 NAPA Autocare centers serviced by 64 Distribution Centers. After being selected as the winner locally, Wilde advanced to the District level. From District, he advanced to the National competition along with 64 other nominees, where he was selected as the winner representing the best in the nation.
Wilde has owned and operated Jake’s Autocare (previously known as Jake’s Radiator) since 1982. In the last 29 years, the business has expanded to become a full-service repair facility specializing in air conditioning, radiators and aftermarket electronics. Jake’s is recognized as an ASE Blue Seal of Excellence Facility and is also an AAA Approved Auto Repair location.
Wilde is an ASE Master Certified automotive, heavy-duty truck and bus technician with 28 certifications, including advanced engine performance specialist. His experience dates back to the 1970s.
Wilde received his first ASE Certification in 1978. He was named as a top finalist in the national competition for NAPA/ASE Technician of the Year 14 times before being named to this top honor.
