A Norwalk police officer was bitten by a bulldog while arresting its owner this afternoon.

Sgt. Todd Temple was escorting Brian C. Shewfelt, 21, out of his house at 11 Welton Ave. when the dog attacked Temple unprovoked, Chief Dave Light said.

Temple, who was limping shortly after the incident, took himself to the Fisher-Titus Medical Center emergency room after his shift ended, Light said.
