Experience counts. That's why I will be voting for Larry Silcox for Huron County Commissioner on March 4 and I urge all eligible voters to do the same. Larry has a background which makes him uniquely qualified for this position. As a former commissioner, he is ready to hit the bricks running. He knows county government, he knows government budgeting, he knows the art of teamwork. As former chief deputy sheriff, Larry knows Huron County. He knows every corner of the county and the people who live here. As a small-business owner, he is aware of the current economic situation. As a parent of two school-aged children, he is concerned about the quality of education, negative influences and the future.
In the years that I have known Larry, I have found him to be honest and honorable, personable, intelligent, and always ready to listen. The greatest compliment I can pay, however, would be to quote my late father-in-law, Kenny Earl, who himself was a deputy sheriff for many years. He often said, "I've known Larry all his life and he's always been straight." Anyone who knew Kenny would know that he could find some good in everyone, but he only used the word "always" when it was justified!
