Ortman, Wallace and Knight honored at Berlin-Milan Middle School

MILAN The Milan Lions Club honored Matthew Ortman, Rachel Wallace and Susan Knight as Berlin-Milan Middle School students of the month.

The students were nominated by their teachers considering academics and extra-curricular activities. The Lions Club honors students every month.

Matthew is the son of Robert and Karen Ortman of Berlin Heights He has made honor roll all through the middle school. He has been a member the Middle School Academic Teams and Power of the Pen Teams. He was a regional qualifier for the Power of the Pen in seventh grade. He has been a member of the seventh and eighth grade basketball teams. He is also involved in the summer league baseball teams. He is a Boy Scout (life scout rank) and is involved in his church youth group. Matthew enjoys baseball, music, sailing and camping. His future goal is to go to college and become an engineer.

Rachel is the daughter of Scott and Janis Wallace of Berlin Heights. She has made honor roll all through Middle School. She has been a Student Council member during her seventh and eighth grade years. She has belonged to Math Club each year at BMMS and is a member of the band. She has been a member of the successful cross country team and track teams. This year she was also was part of our eighth grade basketball team. Rachel has been a Girl Scout for eight years. Rachel enjoys photography, cooking, jet skiing and many other outdoor water type activities. Her future goals include National Honor Society, earning Varsity Sports letters and a college scholarship.

Susan is the daughter of Roger and Jenny Knight of Berlin Heights. She has earned honor roll each of her years at the BMMS. She was a participant in our Land Use Debate competition. She also has competed with our Power of the Pen team. Athletically, Susan does it all: volleyball, basketball, softball, and track. Susan was also a Girl Scout until seventh grade. Susan is playing her second year with the Lake Erie Waves traveling softball team. In the future she would like to attend The Ohio State University.
