A Norwalk man accused of inappropriately touching a 12-year-old girl must post a $20,000 bond before being released from custody.
Edgar E. Zamora-Manico, 20, of 5144 N. U.S. 250, was arrested and charged with gross sexual imposition several hours after the Huron County Sheriff’s Office received the report of the suspected offense.
About 5:30 a.m. Monday, a Fisher-Titus Medical Center employee reported there was a molestation victim being treated in the emergency room. A dispatcher’s report indicates the incident happened about 3:45.
Detective Sgt. Dane Howard said the girl went to the Rustic Hills Mobile Home Park after attending a local dance and was molested by Zamora-Manico, who lives in the same mobile home park.
Howard said the suspect, through an interpreter, told him he had inappropriately touched the girl.
“It appears at this point he is an illegal alien,” the detective added.
The deputy has contacted Immigration Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Huron County Prosecutor Russell Leffler’s office about the case. Howard said he expects ICE to pursue its case after the local felony has been cleared.
“Many times it’s that way,” Howard said.
