Steuben UCC

STEUBEN — The Easter celebration of Christ’s resurrection continues at Steuben Church.  Sunday is the Sixth Sunday of Easter. The scripture lessons, based on the theme “Spirited Love,” are Acts 17:22-31, Psalm 66:8-20, 1 Peter 3:13-22, and John 14:15-21. The Rev. Patricia E. Welch, pastor and teacher, will lead worship during the 11 a.m. service. Large print and young peoples’ bulletins will be available. Come early for the coffee and tea fellowship before the service.

Steuben Church will recognize this Sunday as “Food Bank Sunday,” a week earlier than usual. Worshipers are asked to bring nonperishable food items, cleaning products and personal hygiene items. These will be taken to the Plymouth-Shiloh Food Bank.

n North Fairfield UMC

NORTH FAIRFIELD — The sermon this Sunday is entitled “Stay in Love with God” based on Psalm 37:3-16 and Colossians 2:6-7.  

Everyone is invited to breakfast from 9 to 10 a.m. May 4, with small groups at 10 a.m. and worship at 10:45.  

The Wednesday morning prayer study will be held at New Haven at 10 and is entitled “Praying with our Bodies.”

n Mt. Harvest Church of God

MILAN — This church, located at 150 Ohio 113 W., Milan, will hold a fried chicken dinner from 3 to 7 p.m. today. The dinner will include mashed potatoes and gravy, corn or green beans, cole slaw, roll, dessert and drink. The cost is $8 for adults, and $4 for those 12 and younger. n New Haven UMC

NEW HAVEN — This church, located at Ohio 61 and U.S. 224, will feature a Swiss steak dinner from 5 to 6:30 p.m. today. The cost is $7 per adult.

The dinner will include mashed potatoes and gravy, garden vegetables, salads and homemade pies. Food designed for diabetics will be available.

n Clarksfield UMC

CLARKSFIELD — This church, located at 5151 Zenobia Road, will have services at 10:30 a.m. Sunday. The Rev. Patty Jo Sheldon’s sermon will be “The Spirit of the Living Lord Abides Within.” There will be a baptism during the service. Thursday morning fellowship will be from 9 to 11 with devotions, sharing and snacks.

n First Church of Christ

This church, located at 128 N. Pleasant St., will have guest speaker Karla Eberle, ministry director of Harbor House, a Christian maternity home for teens, at the 10 a.m. worship service Sunday. A potluck dinner will follow the service.

n Biker Church

Biker Church is held at 7 p.m. the first Saturday of each month at New Harvest Baptist Church, 32 S. Pleasant St., Wakeman.

The event includes preaching by Pastor Brad “Neon” Trembley, live music as well as coffee and doughnuts.

The motto is “Come as you are; God doesn’t care and neither do we.”

The event is sponsored by New Harvest Baptist Church and the Trinity Riders Christian Motorcycle Club.

n Norwalk Baptist

This church, located at the intersection of U.S. 20 and Halfway Road, just west of Norwalk Big Lots, welcomes all to its 11 a.m. worship service with an evening service at 6.

King’s Kids (preschool through high school) meet at 7 p.m. Wednesdays. 

Missionaries needing prayer this week are the Don Nutters’ Fair Ministry, the John Radanks in Germany and the Dennis Pyles in the Philippines.

n St. Paul Episcopal

Sunday school and worship are at 8:30 this Sunday. Members are reminded that on May 4 services will return to the summer hour of 11 a.m.

n St. Joseph and St. Alphonsus

Eleven students will make their first communion at St. Alphonsus on Sunday.

Children’s Liturgy of the Word will be held during the 10:30 Mass at St. Joseph.

The Monroeville Ecumenical Association will celebrate “Go To Church Sunday” this week. Everyone is urged to attend church and then enjoy a picnic in Commons Park at 11:30.

n St. Paul Catholic

The church will continue the 50-day celebration of Easter with Wednesday evening prayer at 7 at the church.

n First Presbyterian

The new adult education class, “Go Fish” continues at 9:30 a.m. Sunday in the Great Room. Using a video series by Andy Stanley, this class explores avenues of sharing one’s faith.

During the 10:45 worship service, the church will receive into membership the 2008 confirmation class.

The Deacons host the mother/daughter banquet at 5 p.m. May 4.
