Willard Salvation Army receives $27,628 grant

CLEVELAND — The Willard Salvation Army was awarded a $27,628 grant form the Feed Ohio Program of the Governor's Office of Faith Based and Community Initiatives. The grant will enable the Willard Salvation Army to expand its Summer Lunch Program and begin a Learning Center for children in Willard.

The Grant provides resources for the Willard Salvation Army to expand its Summer Lunch Program from three days a week to five days a week and offer the program at three different locations in the community; centrally located Willard Park Depot, Church of God of Prophecy in the southwest and the North Side Park.

Last year 1,370 lunches were served from the Willard Depot. Sherry Patterson, chairperson for the Willard Salvation Army, estimates they will serve over 8,000 lunches this year. The program runs from June 9 to Aug. 22. Each site will have a qualified program director and volunteer staff tot plan and run the various educational and recreational activities and to provide lunch for the children.

Katy Ruby, of Norwalk, has become and independent consultant with Tastefully Simple, Inc., a national direct-sales company featuring easy-to-prepare gourmet products.

As a consultant, Ruby offers the company's gourmet foods and beverages to guests at home taste-testing parties. Guests receive samples, easy meal ideas, recipes and serving suggestions.
