Attempted murder defendant ruled competent to stand trial

A Norwalk defendant accused of stabbing a Vermilion man has been ruled to be competent to stand trial April 15. During Wednesday's hearing, the court scheduled a March 10 pretrial hearing and final pretrial April 7 for Victor M. Macias-Aguirre, 39, formerly of 66 Cline St.

"He looked pretty good in court yesterday. He seemed to be doing pretty well," Huron County Prosecutor Russell Leffler said this morning. "He is on some medicines to maintain his competency."
