CLEVELAND - The search for a McDonald's Fry Girl began with open auditions at various locations across Northeastern Ohio. During the course of five weeks, hundreds of young women applied, 26 qualified for the final round and only two will win.
The 2007 Fry Girl Talent Search Finals will take place from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday in the Cambridge Room at the House of Blues in downtown Cleveland. The winners will each receive a $5,000 cash scholarship and make special appearances at McDonald's events including the July 16 Cleveland Indians game for McDonald's Day.
A panel of judges, including celebrity judge WKYC-TV 3 Meteorologist Mark Nolan, will score the 26 finalists on a variety of criteria. Finalists will be asked to perform a unique McDonald's cheer or song, describe their best McDonald's experience and react to spontaneous questions. Crowd reaction and participation will also play a role in the judge's final decision.
The 2007 Fry Girl Talent Search Finals is free and open to the public. Complimentary french fry coupons will be distributed (while supplies last) and Ronald McDonald will make an appearance. The event will be hosted by radio personalities Kasper from KISS-FM and Stansbury of WMMS-FM.
Radio stations that hosted auditions included Mix 102.7 in Sandusky and Y105 in Mansfield.
