BELLEVUE - Two tractor-trailer drivers were taken to The Bellevue Hospital with minor injuries after their two trucks collided late Thursday morning on Ohio 4. The cab from one of the trucks was severed from the vehicle and the rest of the truck burst into flames.

A trooper with the state Highway Patrol at the scene said both drivers, James E. Seals, 55, of Eaton, and Timothy J. Kruse, 61, of Bellefontaine, were able to walk away from the crash. A hospital spokeswoman said neither men were listed as patients on the census this morning.

Seals was heading south on Ohio 4 about 11 a.m. when his 2000 International truck went off the right side of the road. He came back on the road, went left of center and collided with the 1997 International northbound truck driven by Kruse, troopers said.

After the collision, the cab of Seals' truck became detached from the chassis and overturned in the road. Troopers said the rest of the truck came to rest on Ohio 4 and caught on fire.

It was considered a total loss.

The other truck, which had heavy damage, stopped partially off Ohio 4 and wasn't involved in the fire, which the Bellevue Fire Department extinguished.

Both drivers were wearing their seat belts. Seals was carrying food products while Kruse was hauling plastic products.

Officials with the Huron County Emergency Management Agency and Ohio Department of Transportation responded to the scene along with state troopers, North Central EMS and Bellevue firefighters. Troopers established a detour while Ohio 4 was closed.

The crash remains under investigation.
