PLYMOUTH On March 15, Megan Huddleston, April Whittington and Allison Henderson, students at Plymouth High School, met with Ohio's First Lady Frances Strickland. Students came together as part of the Ohio Youth Agenda to discuss ways to overcome obstacles to their economic and educational success.

The Ohio Youth Agenda was created by young people from all across the state. These young people came together from all corners of Ohio on Feb. 3, to identify ways they can make positive changes for youth in Ohio. Students plan to meet with policy makers to advocate for this agenda, and the meeting with Mrs. Strickland was the first of these meetings.

Strickland said that she was impressed by how clear and articulate the students were about their needs. She encouraged students to talk to legislators, and to make sure they know what the needs are. "Even the legislators who support you need to hear from you. Your personal stories will help them understand the real-life impacts of their decisions."

Megan, April and Allison were joined by students from Federal Hocking, Meigs, Warren Local, East Cleveland and Columbus public schools for this meeting.
