Program helps little ones grow

What you teach from birth to 3 is what will matter most to me.

Being a parent is one of the most important jobs you will ever have, and often the most challenging and overwhelming.

The first three years of a child's life are the building blocks for your child's learning, development and future. Your child's education actually begins even before birth. It is an awesome responsibility to keep your child healthy, happy and safe. Early detection of developmental delays or concerns is important for your child's future.

The Huron County Help Me Grow program provides services that support children and their families through these first three years of life. It is a voluntary program for pregnant women, infants and toddlers, birth to 3, and their families.

If you have concerns about your child's growth or development, our service coordinators provide free home visits. They will provide families with services, which include information on prenatal and child care, developmental screenings, parenting education and assistance with other community resources. A Help Me Grow professional will spend time with your family to determine your family's individual needs and goals.

Huron County Help Me Grow is located here in Norwalk at 130 Shady Lane Drive. This location is often better known as "Sarah's House."

Our office hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Although these are "office hours," our service coordinators arrange home visits with families that are most convenient for families, often happening after work hours. We can be reached at (877) 663 4769 or (419) 663-4769. Please feel free to call or simply stop in to visit our offices.

Help Me Grow is a statewide program available in all of the state's 88 counties. Help Me Grow is an effort of many cooperating agencies, including Huron County Family and Children First Council, Huron County Board of MR/DD, Huron County Department of Jobs and Family Services and the Ohio Department of Health.
