On Wednesday, Sept. 19, eight residents and eight volunteers boarded a bus headed for Jacobs Field to watch the Cleveland Indians defeat the Detroit Tigers by a score of 4-2.
It was Senior Day at the ballpark with fans in attendance from area nursing homes, senior centers, and assisted living facilities. For several of the Golden Acres residents it had been years since they saw the Indians and for several it was their first time at a major league baseball game. The residents had a ball and were thrilled when the Indians Mascot, Slider, took time out to visit with them and have a photo taken.
