NEW LONDON — The New London Eagles Club is hosting a special event to benefit Cindy (Shepherd) Morris from 11 a.m. to midnight Aug. 11 at 29 W. Fir St., New London.
Morris was diagnosed with brain cancer.

The event will include a 3-ball tourney from 1 to 3 p.m., a pot luck dinner at 4 p.m., an auction at 6 p.m., Chinese raffle, games and Busted Remedy Band at 9 p.m. The public is welcome.
Morris, 44, is a longtime resident of Fitchville. She is a mother of two boys, Josh 25, and Luke 17, who graduated this year from New London High School.
Morris recently was diagnosed with Glioblastoma (GBM for short). GBM is the most common primary malignant brain tumor in adults and is usually fatal. She is home now but undergoes radiation and chemo on a daily basis at Firelands Hospital in Sandusky.
Morris has worked at Kent Sporting Goods in New London and Rolling Acres Golf Course in Nova.
She is a charter member of the New London Eagles Auxiliary and she has no medical or life insurance.
