With the spring wild turkey season half over, Huron County hunters who haven't yet bagged their bird may be wondering if the bucket is half empty or half full.
The answer is definitely half full. The first weeks of turkey season can be tough with often inclement weather and gobblers who have all the hens they can handle. It can be hard to call one in. But between now and May 20, you'll find that most of the hens have been bred and are beginning to nest, which leaves lovelorn gobblers eager to find any that haven't yet caught, and they'll be more interested in hurrying toward the seductive clucks of a nubile hen.
