AVERY Preschoolers in the Early Childhood Development Center celebrated their achievements during a Hollywood awards-style ceremony May 17.
Preschoolers were escorted down a red carpet to their seats by high school students enrolled in EHOVE's early childhood program. After the presentation of awards, the preschoolers enjoyed refreshments, games and prizes.
The program prepares students for careers in the teaching professions and related careers involving children. Students study theories in child development, learning styles, curriculum planning and implementation, and lesson planning. The students lead learning experiences in the Early Childhood Development Center, licensed by the Ohio Department of Education. Students develop preschool activities based on the state's Pre-K standards. Students also gain experience learning activities and caring for toddlers.
Through articulation agreements with North Central State College and Terra Community College, qualified students may earn up to 14 credit hours toward an associate's degree.
Preschoolers at the center include five from Norwalk, six from Milan and one from Monroeville.
