HURON EHOVE Career Center and Firelands College of BGSU Firelands are hosting an open house for prospective college tech prep students at BGSU-Firelands from 5:15 to 7:45 p.m. Tuesday. Inclement weather necessitated the change from the original Feb. 13 date.

New students and their parents are invited to the Cedar Point Center on the BGSU Firelands campus in Huron for orientation and open house. Pizza and refreshments will be provided at 5:15 p.m., followed by speakers and orientation at 5:45 p.m. Juniors and their parents who are interested in the senior-only teacher academy and legal careers programs are also encouraged to attend this open house.

Through the college tech prep programs, EHOVE students take a mix of high school and college classes each day at Bowling Green State University Firelands College so that by the time they graduate high school, students add college credits to their impressive resume of academic and technical skills. EHOVE students enrolled in health, engineering, computer and interactive media college tech prep programs account for more than 150 of the 8,000 students enrolled in tech prep programs statewide.

Current college tech prep programs include: Computer networking, interactive media tech, health tech and engineering tech. The teacher academy program is for seniors who are on a career path to become teachers, offers college credits. Legal careers, added this year for those interested in studying legal professions, also offers college credits.
