Adam L. Oney, 17, of 4819 Ohio 18, Wakeman, was charged with failure to maintain assured clear distance Monday after he hit the rear of the vehicle driven by Paul V. Ebinger, 72, of 6406 Mason Road, Berlin Heights, at the intersection of Ohio 601 and Gibbs Road. Ebinger's passenger and relative, Thelma, 69, was not transported for possible injuries.

Mary M. Mumford, 80, of 509B Liberty Drive, was charged with failure to yield the right of way Monday in the collision with the vehicle driven by Beverly A. Tonich, 65, of 3214 Townsend Angling Road, at the intersection of McIntyre and Seminary roads.


Responded to an alarm activation at noon Tuesday at Norwalk High School. Two witnesses reported seeing two students leaving the building in the general area where the alarm sounded. The Norwalk Police Department is handling the investigation. Returned to station at 12:30.

Assisted North Central EMS in getting a patient out of his car and into an ambulance at 8:04 p.m. Tuesday at 3 Ridgewood Drive. Returned to station at 8:29.

An area resident found an unopened Whirly Bounce toy Saturday on Woodlawn Avenue. No one had claimed it as of Tuesday.

No citation was issued immediately Tuesday after the collision between the vehicles driven by Arthur F. Johansen, 67, of 189 W. Main St., and Rosaria M. Reichart, 88, of 289 E. Main St., on Whittlesey Avenue. Police forwarded a report to the Norwalk Law Director for review.

Veron R. Jones, 20, of 60 Williams St., was arrested on a warrant Tuesday and charged with probation violation. He currently is in custody at the Huron County Jail.

An area motorist reported scratches on the driver's side sliding door of his 2006 Kia Sedona while in a Westwind Drive business parking lot Tuesday.

A North Foster Street resident reported his vehicle was egged Tuesday.

A West Main Street resident reported the theft of her son's green Sting Ray bicycle off the front porch Tuesday.


A Boughtonville Road, Greenwich, resident accused someone of banging on the side of his house Tuesday and fleeing.

A North Ohio 61, Plymouth, resident reported a barking dog complaint Tuesday.

Paullena M. Tackett, 31, of Mansfield, was arrested on a child support-related Huron County Juvenile Court warrant Tuesday and charged with failure to appear. She was released from the Huron County Jail after posting bond.

An Alpha Road, Greenwich, resident reported someone removed tires being stored in a neighbor's barn Tuesday.

The sister of an Ohio 99, Monroeville, resident requested a deputy check on her well-being Tuesday.

An Ohio 18, Wakeman, resident reported her son was being unruly over living arrangements Tuesday.

The manager of an East U.S, 20, Wakeman, mobile home park reported the suspected violation of a temporary protection order Tuesday.

An Old State Road, Willard, resident reported being threatened Tuesday.

A Chenango Road, Wakeman, resident reported seeing "a truck load of kids" hitting each other with "big sticks" Tuesday.

A Greenwich East Townline Road, Greenwich, resident reported a suspicious person asked for a ride Tuesday.

Dispatched the Wakeman Fire District to a reported "large fire in the area east of the vet clinic" on Ohio 303, Wakeman, Tuesday.

A Bismark Road, Bellevue, resident reported receiving threatening messages on his cell phone Tuesday.
