Joan L. Valentine, 58, of Ashland, was charged with improper use of turn and stop signals Saturday in the collision with the vehicle driven by Gregory M. Zak, 61, of Vermilion, on Ohio 60. Valentine attempted to pass a northbound vehicle and hit the right side of Zak's car, which was parallel to her car.

Michelle K. Walcher, 38, of 945 Townline Road 131, North Fairfield, hit a deer Saturday on Ohio 162.


Charles T. Lau, 37, of 9 Old Village Road, Apt. 9B, Norwalk, was charged with driving under the influence, white light emitting from the rear of a vehicle and refusing to take a breath test in connection with a Hamilton Street traffic stop Sunday. He was cited and released to a sober person.


Performed a carbon monoxide investigation at 5:15 p.m. Monday at 2A Executive Village Court. Returned to station at 6:45.

Assisted North Central EMS with a patient at 5:16 p.m. Monday at 520 Milan Ave. Returned to station at 5:39.

Cleaned up antifreeze from a non-injury accident at 5:49 p.m. Monday at the intersection of Cleveland and Old State roads. Returned to station at 6.


Scott A. Tinker, 50, of 11 Jackson St., was charged with failure to maintain assured clear distance and driving under the influence Monday after he hit the rear of the vehicle driven by John R. Fitzpatrick, 43, of Lorain, on West Main Street. Fitzpatrick took himself to Fisher-Titus Medical Center with possible injuries. Police had Tinker's pickup truck towed and seized his license plates as evidence.

The Shelby Police Department reported having Larry Conley, 30, of Shelby, in custody on a local warrant Monday. He was charged with failure to pay fines and costs and currently is in custody at the Huron County Jail.

Arrested a 15-year-old State Street boy and charged him with receiving stolen property, possessing criminal tools and theft, all fourth-degree felonies, in connection with a Woodlawn Avenue incident involving a 1998 Dodge Ram pickup truck Monday. He also was charged with driving under the influence, failure to control, driving without a license, reckless operation and possession of drug paraphernalia. n A Blossom Drive resident reported a broken window at a Rule Street business Monday.

Carol A. Christie, 33, of Sandusky, was arrested on five warrants Monday on the original charges of driving under the influence, vehicle trespassing and driving with a suspended license. She is serving a 10-day sentence at the Huron County Jail.

Arrested a 15-year-old East Main Street boy and charged him with domestic violence and being unruly Monday.

A North Dakota resident reported finding a dent and scratch on the rear of his vehicle Monday while it was parked in a Milan Avenue business parking lot.

An East Washington Street resident reported the theft of his 1998 Ford Ranger on Monday. The incident remains under investigation.


An area resident reported a woman had been missing since Friday from Ogan Road, Wakeman. The complainant said the woman picked up his prescriptions and has them in her possession. He talked to her by cell phone Sunday.

Dispatchers received a 9-1-1 call from the relative of a Greenwich Milan Townline Road, Greenwich, couple who reported a burglary and related assaults Sunday.

An Elm Street, New London, resident reported the theft of his vehicle Monday. The Norwalk Police Department later recovered it and had the 15-year-old juvenile male Norwalk suspect who was driving the vehicle in custody Monday.

An Ohio 61, Plymouth, resident reported losing his cell phone Monday.

A Michigan resident accused someone of cutting down several trees Monday on the Hettle Road, Monroeville, property she owns.

The Wakeman Police Department requested undisclosed assistance Monday on Pleasant Street.

An East U.S. 20, Wakeman, resident reported being assaulted Monday.

An En Road resident reported having undisclosed problems with area juvenile suspects Monday.

Dispatchers received a 9-1-1 call about an Ohio 103, Willard, domestic dispute Monday.

An employee of a West U.S. 224, New Haven, business reported someone drove off without paying for about $41 worth of gasoline Monday.

The owner of a U.S. 20 business reported a possible fight Monday.

A Willard West Road, Willard, resident reported telephone harassment Monday.
