CRESTLINE Jim and Janet Pry and their Crawford County farm have been selected as the Ohio 2007 Tree Farmers of the Year.

They purchased the farm and woods that had been commercially clear cut 30 years ago. Since then, they have planted 40,000 trees, completed numerous conservation projects and have done extensive timber stand improvements to bring the woods back to its prior glory. The headwaters of the Sandusky River run through this woods.

There will be field day tours from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29. The farm is located at 6401 Remlinger Road, Crestline.

The Crawford Park District will hold a special "Owls in Ohio" program at 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 28 at Lowe-Volk Park, 2401 Ohio 598, Crestline, (north of the intersection of U.S. 30 and Ohio 598 about three miles) for anyone coming to the tree farm tour the following day.
