Both Huron County Common Pleas Court and Clerk of Courts will be relocating temporarily for the summer at Norwalk High School on Shady Lane Drive to help facilitate the energy project at the courthouse.
On Thursday, the clerk’s office will be accepting only urgent filings. The office will be moving files and equipment before the electrical outage scheduled for Thursday evening.
Clerk of Courts Susan Hazel said the move will result in a significant change. Anyone needing information from closed cases is asked to make a records request 24 hours in advance by telephone, e-mail or fax.
The clerk’s office will be closed Friday. Common pleas court will be open Friday for all emergency or scheduled hearings.
Beginning Monday, the clerk’s office will be available to serve attorneys and the public from the Norwalk High School Library. Local attorneys’ communication boxes will be available there.
The office will have one public computer station at the high school and one at the Huron County Recorder’s office, 12 E. Main St., dedicated to the clerk’s Web site. The address is www.huroncountyclerk.com.
The temporary clerk and court offices at the high school will be marked clearly at the library entrance. The clerk’s office will continue to operate with the same business hours: Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The contacts will be the same also: phone (419)668-5113, fax (419)663-4048 and the e-mail address remains “email@example.com.”
“As a result of the courthouse energy project, the clerk’s office will be relocating staff, equipment and records. The move has been a lot of work, but it has also served as a wonderful lesson in cooperation. People from the Norwalk schools, county workers, area businesses and volunteers have all very generously worked together to make this move possible. Everyone’s willing efforts are truly appreciated,” Hazel said.
During the summer construction, the courthouse second floor will be off limits to attorneys, title searchers and public. As of Monday, the public will only have access to the first floor of the courthouse. During the summer construction, the courthouse second floor will be off limits to the public.
