WSOS Steps to Hope program offers help
Residents of Huron County who are seeking assistance to re-enter, or enter, the workforce can find that assistance through the Steps to Hope program operated by WSOS Community Action Commission, Inc.
WSOS, in partnership with the NetWORK division of the Zepf Center, the One-Stop Operator for The Source of Toledo, provides a comprehensive array of workforce development and social services to assist individuals to attain, maintain, and make advances in employment. It is aimed at residents eligible for Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF).
The assistance this program offers helps participants to develop a plan and work toward improving their economic conditions. The program is serving residents of Sandusky, Seneca, Ottawa, Erie and Hancock counties as well. Roger Fisher, employment services coordinator at WSOS, encourages Ottawa County residents to take advantage of this assistance because, he said, residents who participate in this program get more than employment assistance.
The program includes employment, training, and social services, which are provided through comprehensive assessments, case management, work ethic and job-readiness skills building, individualized job development, healthcare training, and work experience opportunities.
In addition, training in parent leadership skills, basic computer skills, consumer financial education, and marine mechanic skills will be available for participants.
For more information on the program or how you can participate in the program, call Roger at (800) 775-9767.
