Just in time for Valentine's Day...

The Humane Society of Erie County is offering some sweet deals now through Feb. 13 on adorable, furry sweethearts available for adoption.

All adopters will receive a Valentine Goodie Bag filled with all kinds of treats for their new cat or dog. Included is a certificate for a free portrait of their new pet courtesy of the Picture People in the Sandusky Mall.

They currently have more than 50 cats and kittens and 10 dogs to choose from. Many of these are available at a reduced adoption rate.

Norwalk engineer

earns state license

KS Associates, a civil engineering and land surveying firm headquartered in Elyria, announced that Norwalk resident Derrick Marsh, project engineer for KS Associates' Land Development Group, has become a registered professional engineer (P.E.) licensed in the state of Ohio.

His responsibilities include providing engineering support for all phases of commercial and residential development projects, from preliminary design and agency approvals to preparation of construction documents.

Marsh received a bachelor of civil engineering degree from Youngstown State University. In addition to earning a four-year degree in engineering from an accredited university, Ohio law requires that graduates have a minimum of four additional years of professional experience before taking the P.E. exam.

Usselman graduates from insurance class

Jeanne Usselman, of the Cindy Norcross Insurance Agency, State Farm Insurance recently graduated from a specialized class in business insurance needs from State Farm Insurance in Newark at the Newark Operations Center.

Usselman is licensed in property and casualty, life and health and has her Series 6 and enjoys working with business owners. She is available by appointment from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday and 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturdays.
