JUST LIKE OLD TIMES - Norwalk bicentennial coming up in 2009 or 2017

Thinking about the Firelands Historical Society's sesquicentennial last week reminded me that the Norwalk community itself is fast approaching its bicentennial. There are two different years to consider, however 1809 and 1817.
The former date of 1809 is the date that the first permanent settlement was effected in Norwalk Township. A temporary settlement had been made in 1808 by Nathan Sellick Comstock of New Cannan, Conn. He was the son of Thomas Comstock who rendered aid to fire sufferers whose property had been destroyed when Norwalk, Conn., was burnt in 1779. Those grateful people gave Thomas their "western claims."...
