Jordan is misleading people

• Jan 9, 2020 at 2:45 PM

The article, "Jim Jordan Addresses Republicans," in Saturday's Reflector shows Rep. Jim Jordan in the act of misleading people.

Take for example his statements: "They’re never going to stop, they’re never going to stop attacking this president. No matter what the president does, they are going to attack him." Here Jordan invites his audience into an "us-them" world, where the "us" are victims of the crazy, zombie-like "thems." But this world is incompatible with the civil discourse and understanding required for the health of our democratic republic.

Jordan also misleads in his take on the impeachment of President Trump. Jordan says that all of the facts are on Trump's side. But anyone that reads the executive summary of the House Intelligence Committee report can see that that is not the case. Its 22 pages read like a true crime story, and it is backed by 259 pages of findings of fact.

Jordan says that he wishes everyone could meet Trump and that you can not help but like him. If that's the case, fine. But would that make up for the fact that parents have to hide their children from the terrible example of the president with his ridiculous lies, insults and threats of violence?

I hope that people would use their own eyes, ears and brain, and be very wary of what Jordan is handing them.
