Sharon Harwood (R) has won the seat on Norwalk city council. Her running opponent for the 2nd Ward Council seat was Matt Fair (I).

Harwood previously sat on the city council from 1997-2004 and was council president for five years.

“I just want to thank my neighbors in the second ward and I’m happy to be representing them again,” Harwood said. “I will be thrilled to do so.”

The Ward 2 seat is being vacated by Dave Wallace, a Republican, who ran unsuccessfully against Rob Duncan in the mayoral primary in May.

Fair was unavailable for comment.

Harwood said the race was not normal, as neither opponent campaigned heavily.

“I think it’ll be great,” Harwood said. “It’s an exciting time.”

Harwood is looking forward to getting to know the new mayor, Dave Light.

“That’s always intriguing getting to know what the new administration will be doing,” Harwood said.
