UNIONTOWN — For the second time in program history — and the second time in four years — the Monroeville volleyball team will end its season at Wright State University.

In a Division IV regional championship match on Saturday vs. No. 12 Wellsville, the No. 9-ranked Eagles (24-3) dominated from start to finish. They needed just 55 minutes to sweep Wellsville by scores of 25-10, 25-11, 25-11.

With the win, Monroeville advances to the Div. IV state semifinals at 2 p.m. next Thursday, where it will face No. 3 New Bremen (22-4) — the defending state champions from the Midwest Athletic Conference — at the Nutter Center in Fairborn.

The Eagles also made the state semifinals in 2015, falling in a five-game thriller to eventual state champion Jackson Center.

In Div. II, the Willard volleyball team concluded its season with a 19-8 record after falling to No. 3-ranked Parma Heights Holy Name (24-3) in a regional title match on Saturday at Lexington High School.

Willard lost by scores of 25-20, 25-21, 25-23. The Flashes were tied at 20 in Game 2 and led for good portions of Game 3 before falling.
