Norwalk puts four on All-SBC Lake second team

Four Norwalk volleyball players were voted to the All-Sandusky Bay Conference Lake Division second team, the league announced Monday afternoon.

Junior setter Olivia Ward, junior libero Lindsey Koenig, and junior hitters Carly Bilton and Delaney Thomas each were on the second team.

Ward enters Tuesday’s Division II district semifinal vs. Willard with 561 assists with a 97 percent success rate on sets. Koenig paces the Norwalk defense with 304 digs, while Bilton has 174 kills and Thomas has 110.

Also for Norwalk, junior hitter Claire Kelley was honorable mention.

Bellevue senior hitter Payton Vogel was voted the Most Outstanding Performer for the league. She enters Tuesday’s district semifinal against Perkins with 362 kills and 74 blocks.

Also from Bellevue, junior setter Molly Bullion and sophomore hitter Taylor Baxter were first-team selections. Morgan Dendinger (libero) and McKenna Davis (hitter) were honorable mention for the Lady Red.

Willard’s Wiers named first team Bay

Willard senior hitter Lydia Wiers was selected to the All-SBC Bay division first team, the league announced on Monday.

Wiers, who missed four matches with an injury, enters Tuesday’s match vs. Norwalk with 304 kills and 79 blocks. Junior hitter Cassidy Crawford (204 kills) was a second-team choice, while senior Chloe Wiers was honorable mention.

For Edison, senior libero Grace Houser (397 digs) and senior hitter Hannah Vitaz (134 kills) were voted to the second team. Freshman hitter Kira Appeman was honorable mention.
