Monroeville's Snook earns 200th career win

SHELBY — The state-ranked Monroeville volleyball team (No. 7, Div. IV) closed out the regular season with a 19-3 record after sweeping host Shelby on Saturday.

Monroeville won by scores of 25-11, 25-9, 25-14, which also gave head coach Kendra Snook her 200th win in her 10th season at the school.

For the Eagles, Kylee Brooks and Graisyn Yoder each had 11 kills. Camryn Hedrick had 40 assists, while Stacia Stieber had 20 digs, and Adrian Barman was 17 for 17 serving with three aces, five kills and 10 digs.

Also for Monreoville, Kelsie Palmer had nine kills and three blocks, while Maura Brown added six kills.

The Monroeville JV team wrapped up a 20-2 season with a 25-5, 25-23 win.

The Eagles are off until Thursday as they away the winner of Crestline-Bucyrus Wynford winner in a Div. IV sectional final at 7 p.m. at the Monroeville Athletic Complex.

Norwalk 3, Vermilion 1

VERMILION — Visiting Norwalk closed the regular season with a 12-10 record following Saturday’s four-game win over Vermilion.

Norwalk won by scores of 17-25, 25-23, 25-11, 25-17 over the host Sailors (15-7).

Carly Bilton was 23-of-26 hitting with 12 kills and three blocks for Norwalk, while Mya Neuberger was 29-of-29 with 11 kills, and Claire Kelley was 35-of-36 with nine kills.

Lindsey Koenig was 14 for 14 serving with three aces and led the defense with 23 digs. Kelley added 16 digs and Ella Foster had 12. Olivia Ward was 124-of-126 setting with 39 assists.

Norwalk is back in action at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday in a Div. II sectional semifinal match vs. Mansfield Madison (4-17) at home.

St. Paul 3, Edison 0

NORWALK — The state-ranked Lady Flyers (No. 8, Div. IV) put the caps on an 18-4 regular season with a four-game win over visiting Edison on Saturday.

St. Paul won by scores of 25-10, 23-25, 25-20, 25-12 over the Chargers (6-16).

Lauren Chandler finished nine points and two aces to go along with 16 digs, pushing her over the 1,000-dig mark for her high school career. Megan Hammersmith served 17 points with four aces, and added 20 assists and 17 kills.

Also for St. Paul, Kamryn Maxwell had 26 kills and 20 digs, while Anna Lukasko had 10 kills and Dyllan Knoll had 30 assists.

St. Paul will await the winner of Mansfield Christian-Mansfield St. Peter’s in a Div. IV sectional final at 7 p.m. Thursday.

Willard 3, Seneca East 0

WILLARD — The Crimson Flashes finished the regular season with a 15-7 record following Saturday’s non-league sweep over Seneca East.

Willard won by scores of 25-13, 25-14, 25-19.

Lydia Wiers had 14 kills and eight blocks for Willard, with Chloe Wiers adding six kills. Chloe Weaver was 23 for 23 serving with three aces and 13 assists, and Alyse Cok had four kills and 13 digs.

Also for the Flashes, Jena Adams had 15 assists — who host the Lexington-Clear Fork winner in a Div. II sectional championship match at 7 p.m. Thursday at home.


Bellevue finishes eighth in Div. II

COLUMBUS — The Bellevue girls team shot its best score of the year to move up two spots from 10th to eighth at Saturday’s Division II state championships held at Ohio State University’s Gray Course in Columbus.

Bellevue went from a 379 on Friday to a 369 on Saturday.

Lara Spurlock shot an 83 on Friday and an 87 on Saturday, as she finished tied for 22nd overall with a 130. Cassandra Biedrzycki (102-88—190) dropped an impressive 14 strokes off her Friday score and Tristian Rupp (97-93—190) both placed 40th for the Lady Red.

Also for Bellevue was Riley Hager (98-101—199) and Olivia Martinez (101-106—207).
