Pirates of Penzance opens tonight in Bellevue

BELLEVUE — The Bellevue Society for the Arts (BSA) will present six performances of “The Pirates of Penzance,” beginning tonight.

Performances are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. today and Saturday and 2:30 p.m. Sunday, plus 7:30 p.m. Feb. 2 and 3 and 2:30 p.m. Feb. 4 at the BSA’s theater, 205 Maple St., Bellevue.

Pirates has been pleasing audiences since 1879; it is one of Gilbert & Sullivan’s most popular plays.

The BSA cast includes Jared Bradley, of Bellevue, as Frederic; Leslie Childers, of Bellevue, as Mabel; Steve Koenig, of Huron, as the Pirate King; Jimy Foreman, of White’s Landing, as the Major General; Heidi Sarvis-Sapp, of Berlin Heights, as Ruth; Sara Stamm, of Clyde, as Edith; Haley Shimer, of Bellevue, as Kate; Katherine Gauthier, of Huron , as Isabel; and Emma Childers, of Bellevue, Savannah Hetrick, of Oak Harbor, and Emily Schaffer, of Bellevue, as daughters. Pirates are Adam Shanaman, of Bellevue; Ethan Mandeville, of Sandusky; Ralph Burns, of Bellevue; Isaac Carson, of Bellevue; Keith Robins, of Bellevue; Vernon Hanson, of Bellevue; Guy Thiboutot, of Bellevue; Matt Wahl, of Bellevue; Chris Wiedle, of Clyde; and Dan Wiesler, of Sandusky.

Jimy Foreman is director; Jeff Skaggs, of Huron, is musical director; Jerry Beck II, of Sandusky, designed lighting and sound; and costumes are by Sharon Musser and Angela Wetzel.

Tickets cost $8 for children and students through grade 12, $8 for people older than 60 years old and $12 for general admission. Reservations can be made by calling 419-484-2787.
