She was born June 17, 1941, in Cassie, W.Va., to Jess and Wilda (Copley) Cooley.
Dottie valued the comforts of home and family and cherished her grandchildren. She appreciated nature and especially enjoyed birds and deer. Her dumplings during Thanksgiving were a yearly family favorite.
Dottie was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Norwalk.
Survivors include her sons, Dewey Jr. (Cindy) Varney and Doug (Brenda) Striker both of Norwalk; daughter, Lelah Weidinger of Norwalk; grandchildren, Karlee Varney of Norwalk, Mitchell Varney of Hawaii; step grandchildren, Jon (Jacquie) Houser of Cleveland, Liz (Jim) Adams of Norwalk and Chris Houser of Pennsylvania; six step great-grandchildren; siblings, Judy (Kermit) Workman of West Virginia, Betty (Ron) Wise of Norwalk, Tabby Cooley of West Virginia and Diane (Glendale) Marrett of West Virginia; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her late husbands, Dewey Varney Sr. and Richard Striker; son, Jeffrey Ray Varney; brother, Gary Bruce Cooley; and close friend, Lois Skinner.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7, at Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St., Norwalk. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 8, at the funeral home, with Pastor Rick Kennison officiating. Burial will follow the service on Wednesday in Woodlawn Cemetery.
