She was born July 9, 1921, in Attica, to Lloyd and Elizabeth (Berger) Fortney.
Anna graduated from Attica High School in 1940. She owned Ann's Beauty Shop in Norwalk for five years. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Sandusky and a graduate of Norwalk Bible Institute. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, cooking, traveling and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Anna is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth (David) Willinger of Monroeville; son, Raymond (Beverly) Smythe of Bellevue; grandchildren, Brenda (Aaron) Lynn, Daniel (Joanne) Willinger, Tracey (Al) Schafer, Tami (Toby) Smith, Tom (Vicki) Smythe, Trent Smythe and Tanna (Nate) Goebbel; 17 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde R. Smythe; sisters, Bernice Shantz, Audrey Meredith and Nellie Diehl; brothers, Elvin, Ralph, Orrie, Glenn and Edward Fortney.
Friends may call 4-7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 6, at Calvary Baptist Church, 1810 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky. The Rev. David Hixson will officiate. Burial will follow at 2 p.m., in Attica Cemetery, Attica.
