Carol A. Scheetz

NORWALK — Carol A. Scheetz, 80, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2019, in Stein Hospice Service, Sandusky.

She was born to Leon and Naomi R. (Schilling) Downing Nov. 15, 1938, in Norwalk, and was a lifelong area resident. She graduated from Norwalk High School in 1956, and held jobs as a waitress at the Korner Kupboard restaurant in Milan, and Brown Derby in Sandusky, and she retired as the manager of the Friendship gas station in Wakeman.

Carol enjoyed bowling on singles and doubles bowling leagues with her husband, as well as riding on her husband’s Harley Davidson motorcycle. She was the first female in Erie County to earn a chauffeur’s license and she received a H.A.M. Operators license. Carol was an avid Cleveland Cavaliers and Indians fan, and she really enjoyed “family night” with her family.

She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, John P. Scheetz, at Ohio Veteran’s Home, Sandusky; children, Cindy R. (Tom) Trunk of Vermilion, Pamela M. (Pete) Fisher of Port Charlotte, Fla., and David J. Scheetz of Huron; grandchildren, Scacey (Bill) Hildenbrand, Troy Costigan, Brooke (Will) Gruhlke, Travis Costigan, Stephanie Trevino, Brandon Puder, and Ashley (Steve) Bowers; 14 great-grandchildren; sister, Charmalee Fuller of Norwalk; her guardian angel and friend, Carly Adams; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law Beverly (Harry) Mckain; and by her brother-in-law, Donald Fuller.

There will be no visitation and no services, a private memorial service will be held at a later date. Walker-Eastman-Heydinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
