He was a faithful servant of God, and was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, where he was a Eucharistic Minister. Ron was born January 26, 1939, in Norwalk, Ohio, to the late Gerald E. and Gladys L. (Carry) Chase.
He was a veteran of the National Guard, Company C., Norwalk, Ohio, and enlisted during the Korean Conflict. Ron retired after 19 years with the Huron County Sheriff’s Department.
He worked for Clevite (Tenneco) before going to the Sheriff’s Department full time. Ron was a 3rd degree Knight of Columbus council #622, and 4th degree Knight of Columbus assembly #823. He was also a member of Eagles Aerie #711. The Norwalk Bronson Conservation Club, the Fraternal Order of Police, and was a member, and past commander of Ken Bur Bell Post #41 American Legion.
He was an avid sportsman. Ron loved to hunt and fish, and enjoyed golf, watching the Cleveland Browns, and the Cleveland Indians.
Ron is survived by his wife, Barbara Jane “Barb” (Schlegelmilch) Chase, whom he married May 3, 1957. He is also survived by his children, Michelle A. (Richard) Schaffer, Randy S. (Tracy) Chase, and by his son in law, Tom L. Hipp, by his grandchildren, Ashley A. (John) Zunis, Bryson A. (Kristin) Schaffer, Anthony L. Hipp, and Tess (Seth) Todd, and by 7 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Judith I. Jefferies, and by his sister in law, Barb A. Chase, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ron was preceded in death by his daughter, Beverly J. Hipp, by an infant sister, Karen M. Chase, and by his twin brother, Roger C. Chase.
Friends may call on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in Walker Funeral Home, 98 West Main Street, Norwalk, Ohio. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, 1322 Settlement Road, Norwalk, Ohio. Fr. Ron Schock will officiate. Inurnment will be in St. Alphonsus Cemetery.
