Imagine Norwalk, the city’s bi-weekly Main Street music festival, has struggled to keep crowds coming consistently the past couple years. And as changes abound in the Norwalk Area Arts Council, Lippus, the Norwalk Area Visitor’s Bureau (NAVB) director said it became evident something had to happen to make sure the community gathering didn’t come to a complete halt.
That’s when 4th Fridays was born. The music-oriented event will take place from 6 p.m. to dusk on the fourth Friday of every month in downtown Norwalk. The first of these events will kick off Friday, spearheaded by the NAVB.
“Many of you have asked us if we know any details regarding ‘Imagine Norwalk’ and the short answer is, we have no idea,” the organization’s website said. “But we've come up with a solution. ... Some time ago an event called ‘Imagine Norwalk’ was created, where Main Street was lined with artisan vendors, musicians, painters and food trucks. When the future of Imagine Norwalk became uncertain, the NAVB wanted to fill the gap with a monthly series called ‘4th Fridays’.
4th Friday will be held monthly from June through October. The organization said the event’s format will be “very similar” to Imagine Norwalk. However, there will be more for the whole family to enjoy. The events promise artisan vendors, musicians, artists, yoga, food trucks and more.
