COLLINS — It is with great sadness we inform you the Western Reserve School District has suffered the loss of a student. Freshman student, Ethan DeChant, died this last Friday evening. The Rider community extends its deepest sympathies to Ethan's family and friends. Grief counselors from the Huron County Crisis Team will be on hand tomorrow to support students through this devastating time.

If you have any questions or concerns about your child you are urged to contact building administration or school counseling departments via phone or email.

DeChant is the second Western Reserve student to die in the last 2 1/2 months.

Damian G. Henning’s body was found underneath the Anthony Wayne Bridge near a river in Toledo. The Toledo Police Department has recovered the vehicle he was driving, a yellow 2002 Ford Mustang registered to his mother.

Henning, a Western Reserve High School junior, was last seen Nov. 9 at Kalahari, where he worked as a deep-water lifeguard. He had clocked out of work before video surveillance showed him driving away in the parking lot at 2:21 p.m.

Henning’s death was ruled a suicide.
