A first-time author debuting his mystery novel is one of the many September events at the Norwalk Public Library.

Join Norwalk resident Cary Ashby for a book signing and author event at 7 p.m. Sept. 10. He will share excerpts from his debut novel, “Colt Maverick,” and will answer readers’ questions. Since 2004, Ashby has been a Norwalk Reflector staff writer.

On the first Tuesday of every month, the library busts out the bricks. LEGO Day is at 4:30 p.m. Sept. 4. All ages are welcome to build and compete.

Children ages 0 to 5 can attend “Story Time” every Thursday at 11 a.m. This month’s dates are Sept. 6, 13, 20 and 27.

All ages are welcome to attend “Story Knight,” a special medieval-themed story time at 7 p.m. Sept. 12. Princesses, knights and dragons will craft, enjoy stories and play games.

Participants in the Battle of the Books will compete at the Sandusky Public Library at 1 p.m. Sept. 22. All are invited to come cheer us on.

Banned Books Week is Sept. 24 through 29. Celebrate the freedom to read all week long. The library will have special displays, contests and scavenger hunts for all ages.
