MANSFIELD — A suspect remains at large this evening after fleeing from state Highway Patrol troopers.

The pursuit began on Ohio 430, near Hickory Lane, in Mansfield, and ended at the intersection of Illinois Avenue and Grace Street, according to troopers.

The driver was lost shortly after crashing into an area home, injuring one resident there.

During the pursuit, troopers lost sight of the suspect’s vehicle while going northbound on Illinois Avenue. The suspect’s vehicle drove off the roadway and struck a house while still out of sight of the troopers. One resident was inside the house at the time of the crash and sustained minor injuries and was taken to Ohio Health Mansfield for treatment, troopers said.

The home wasn’t located until after the suspect fled from the scene. The driver was not apprehended. He remained at large as of 7 p.m., troopers said.

Troopers were assisted by Madison Fire and EMS, Red Cross and the Richland County Sheriff’s Department.

The pursuit remains under investigation and charges are pending, troopers said.
