Norwalk city council passed the collective bargaining agreement with the union representing the Norwalk Police Department without any discussion Tuesday.

The officers, sergeants, captains and dispatchers will receive a 2-percent wage increase annually. The agreement starts Jan. 1 of this year and runs through Dec. 31, 2021.

“I’m glad we were able to settle with them. I think it’s fair agreement for them and us,” Norwalk Mayor Rob Duncan said after the meeting.

Negotiations began in September or October.

The previous contract between Norwalk and the Ohio Patrolman’s Benevolent Association had a 2-percent increase the first two years and 3 percent for the final year, which was 2018.
