Norwalk girls golfers win home finale

NORWALK — The Norwalk girls golf team defeated Vermilion on Monday at Eagle Creek in the rain for an SBC win in the final home match of the season.

Norwalk (8-3) won by a score of 198-252.

Anna Little shot a 44 for Norwalk, followed by Hannah Dumbeck (47), Noelle Jackson (49), Carmen Krichbaum (58), Chloe Thomas (75) and Emily Berry (77).


Norwalk 7, Clyde 2

CLYDE — The Norwalk boys soccer team improved to 4-6-1 overall and 4-3-1 in the SBC Lake with Monday’s rout over the host Fliers.

Garrison Smith netted a hat trick, scoring three goals for the Truckers. Will Gehlhausen, Mark Kelley, Austin Obermeyer and Jose Escebedo each had one goal to round out the scoring. Smith also had two assists, and Gehlhausen had one.

Tyler Clark with finished with eight saves at goalkeeper for the Truckers, who host Vermilion on Wednesday.


Keystone 3, Edison 2

LAGRANGE — The Chargers lost Monday’s non-league game that was played in a steady downpour against the host Wildcats.

Hanna Ceja and Piper Nickoli both had one goal each during the match with an assist by Aliyah Caporini.

Edison hosts Elyria Catholic at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.


South Central, St. Paul ranked in Div. VII

COLUMBUS — A pair of area Firelands Conference teams remain among the rankings in the Division VII Associated Press state poll, released on Monday.

South Central (5-0, 2-0 FC) — off to its best start in program history — is ranked No. 12, just 11 points outside of the top 10. St. Paul (4-1, 2-0 FC) appears at No. 15 in this week’s poll, down one spot from last week.

Six of the top 10 teams and nine of the 16 teams ranked overall in Div. VII are all from Region 26, where both the Trojans and Flyers are assigned. When the computer points are released by the OHSAA today, South Central is expected to be fourth and St. Paul is projected to be ninth.
