He’s the 10th in the new era and the fifth hired by the Haslams since they took over the team in 2012. Stefanski, 37, took the podium alone inside the Browns’ postgame media room, and owner Jimmy Haslam and Chief Strategy Officer Paul DePodesta were set to speak to the media in the locker room afterwards.
Here are a few highlights from his press conference:
— "I really think this kid (Baker Mayfield) has a chance to take off. I’ve talked to Odell Beckham Jr. We’ll be multiple explosive.''
— "The skillset that our QB has is legit. He’s as accurate as they come. The sky is the limit for him.''
— “I spoke to Baker briefly yesterday. He’s the trigger man and that’s the exciting part for me.”
— "We have a vision of what this is going to look like moving forward. It’s a collective.''
— He says he’ll call plays if it makes sense for the team.
— On analytics: ‘I’m looking for any edge I can get.’

— Is it true that he’s required to have a Friday meeting to hand in his gameplans: “It’s not true. It’s silly season. I liked that report (sarcastic).”
— “The fan base is incredible. They deserve a winner.”
— "I have a great, great respect for the alumni of this franchise.''
— On his coaching staff: "We’re going to talk to every single that coach that’s on the staff. Then we’ll huddle up along with everybody and put some names together. We’re going to be truly methodical. There’s no rush.''
— Gary Kubiak and having a senior offensive assistant: "It was invaluable.'' Praised working side-by-side with Kubiak in Minnesota.
— "Not only do we have the right people in the building, we have the right players in the building.''
