Seven from Norwalk earn SBC Lake first team

Seven players from SBC Lake Division co-champion Norwalk earned a spot on the all-league first team offense and defense lists, released on Tuesday.

The Truckers (8-2, 4-1) shared the league title with Tiffin Columbian (9-1, 4-1). They host Cleveland Glenville at 7 p.m. Friday in a Division III Region 10 first-round matchup at Whitney Field.

On offense, standout senior running back Evan Stumpf was a unanimous selection to the first team. He was joined on offense by center Kaleb Bauman and tackle Trey Leroux, both seniors.

Stumpf ran for 1,994 yards and 23 touchdowns during the regular season, averaging 9.1 yards on 218 attempts. Bauman and Leroux helped pave the way for a Norwalk offense that averaged 397 yards and 36.6 points per game this season.

Defensively, Norwalk senior lineman Gabe Phillips (39 tackles, 10 sacks), senior linebacker Alec Maloney (116 tackles, 4 sacks, 3 interceptions), senior defensive back Ryan Sowders (50 tackles, 3 INTs) and junior kicker Garrison Smith (48-of-48 PATs, 10-of-11 FGs) were also first team selections.

Earning first team honors for Bellevue (6-4, 2-3) — which qualified for the playoffs in Div. IV Region 14 — included receiver Caleb Marshall (35 catches, 754 yards, 13 TDs) and Jack Howey (507 yards, 9 TDs) at running back.

Collin Corapi (51 tackles, 3 sacks), Howey (82 tackles) and Jack Fitzgerald (48 tackles) were first team selections on the line, linebacker and defensive backfield for the Redmen.

Second team selections on offense for Norwalk included Sowders (41 catches, 639 yards, 4 TDs) at receiver and senior Laurence Newland at guard. Junior defensive lineman Jakob Stebel (43 tackles, 10 sacks), senior linebacker Josh Neuberger (90 tackles, 3 sacks, 2 INTs) and senior defensive backs Ethan Hernandez (52 tackles, 3 sacks) and Jake Sommers (15 tackles, INT) were second team defense.

Honorable mention for Norwalk included Phillips and Logan Weinert on the offensive line and Oliver Maloney at receiver. Anthony Weisenberger (DL) and Andrew Mozina (LB) were honorable mention on defense for the Truckers.

Edison’s Brewer two-way first team

Senior standout fullback and linebacker Jacob Brewer was a unanimous selection to both sides of the ball on the All-SBC Bay Division list, released Tuesday.

Brewer rushed 142 times for 1,098 yards and 22 TDs during the regular season for the playoff-bound Chargers (7-3, 4-1), who visit Shelby (7-3) at 7 p.m. Saturday in Div. IV Region 14.

On defense, Brewer finished with 53 tackles, three tackles and an interception from his outside linebacker position.

Joining Brewer on the first team from Edison was offensive guard, senior Justin Daniel, and senior offensive tackle Tim Straka. The Chargers averaged 365 yards and 33.1 points per game this season.

On the first team defense was senior lineman Jaden Timbs (27 tackles, 3 sacks) and linebacker Joe Stoll (74 tackles, 6 sacks) — a unanimous selection.

Also earning first team on offense was Willard junior Hayden Meisner, who caught 39 passes for 589 yards and 4 TDs at receiver.

Second team selections on offense for Edison was sophomore center Keegan Smith and senior running back Noah Staley. Daniel as a lineman, and senior defensive back Jakey Need and junior DB Grant Ott were also second team choices. Earning honorable mention for the Chargers was sophomore tight end Logan Lloyd.

For Willard, junior linebacker Jon Rothhaar (116 tackles, 3 sacks) was second team, while sophomore running back Dario Lopez and senior tackle Wyatt Fullard were honorable mention.
